Crimping Just Got Simpler with MILWAUKEE®’s New M18™ FORCE LOGIC™ Hydraulic Dieless Crimper

Milwaukee Tool is proud to unveil the simplest way to crimp without dies. The M18™ FORCE LOGIC™* Dieless Crimper utilises an industry-first, groundbreaking technology called Auto Distance Control.

Auto Distance Control enables the tool to sense the instant it contacts the connector, applying a precise pressure for each size based on crimp distance. This revolutionary technology delivers optimal compression for each individual size, allowing for only one crimp per connection across the sizes 10-300 mm2, and uniform crimp appearance across the entire capacity range.

Historically, there’s been single-point dieless crimpers and four-point dieless crimpers, both of which have limitations:

  • Single-point tools have larger capacity ranges but have extra wide nests and oversized indenters that mash and distort smaller and medium sizes.
  • Four-point tools create better-looking crimps but require a varying number of crimps per connector and the teeth are prone to breaking if the connector is not perfectly aligned.

“We knew users deserved a better solution that took the best of both and delivered them in one, easy-to-use tool that didn’t change their workflow,” said Christian Bschor, Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool. “To achieve this, we applied our knowledge of compression on flexible wire connectors in a different way. Thus, autonomous distance-based crimping was born.”

Auto Distance Control incorporates a linear distance sensor and linear encoded ram to continuously measure crimp distance along with pressure. The technology enables the tool to sense the instant it contacts the connector; measuring the outside diameter, determining its size and calculating a target final crimp distance. Once that target distance is reached the tool verifies that it reached the correct pressure, applies that pressure to the crimp, and gives the user instant verification, via a green light, that the cycle was successful.

“The beauty of this technology is that it acts entirely behind the scenes. Everything is done simultaneously and instantaneously without the user ever having to stop, slow down, change settings, or do anything different than how they would operate any of the dieless tools they may have used in the past. It truly is the simplest way to crimp,” said Christian.

The lightest in its range with a capacity of up to 300 mm2, the M18 FORCE LOGIC Hydraulic Dieless Crimper features an in-line design and 180-degree rotating head for easiest alignment. A fully enclosed high-speed hydraulic pump provides the capability to press every lug of its range with only one crimp. When equipped with an M18 REDLITHIUM-ION 2.0 Ah battery pack, the tool delivers up to 90 crimps per charge. A pre-crimp battery check prevents users from starting a crimp the tool cannot complete due to insufficient battery charge, ensuring a full crimp every time.

Milwaukee Tool is committed to improving productivity by providing performance-driven and trade-focused solutions so users can perform an entire day’s work on one battery system. The new M18 FORCE LOGIC Hydraulic Dieless Crimper is fully compatible with the entire M18 line, now offering more than 165 power tool products, and is a true testament to MILWAUKEE®’s focus on investing in game-changing technology that truly delivers breakthrough solutions for users.

* FORCE LOGIC is engineered to not only improve upon, but fundamentally change the way high-force tools are used in the field. Through thoughtful design focused on workflow, each tool simplifies a complicated process to deliver the best user experience of its kind and the smartest way to work.
