Background

At Milwaukee® we push the limits of cordless power tool technologies through continuous disruptive innovation.

"our ultimate aim is the cordless jobsite"
Oliver Lerch, Vice President of Product Management Milwaukee EMEA.

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?

Milwaukee® have been working with large contractors and construction companies to educate them on how Milwaukee® products can create a cordless jobsite. Milwaukee® offer an extensive range of cordless tools to fulfil their daily needs, capable of replacing corded power tools across all high demand applications.

A CORDLESS JOBSITE - WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

In an ever evolving world our technology is constantly improving. Our Milwaukee® 12.0Ah HIGH OUTPUT™ Batteries and optimised power tools and accessories provide power to match AC performance like never before. With many factors influencing today's jobsite it is extremely important to provide as many solutions as possible to our tradesmen with the simple aim of making their job easier, improving safety, and increasing productivity through saving time and money.

WILLMOTT DIXON

ELTHAM CINEMA

This project will boast six screens, two restaurants and a sky bar. The construction work is taking place in large, dark areas without natural light so Milwaukee® TRUEVIEW™ is the perfect solution to light the jobsite. As TRUEVIEW™ products are cordless, workers can move the lighting quickly and easily across all rooms, whilst avoiding
trip hazards.

“We chose Milwaukee® lighting because of the light spread, the battery life and how good it is at lighting up large auditoriums”

Euston

COSTAIN-SKANSKA

EUSTON

Costain-Skanska are demolishing retail estate around the existing Euston station. There’s a huge construction site surrounding the station to prepare the area for development work. Heavy duty demolition work is required in remote locations and our Milwaukee® M18™ 12.0 Ah HIGH OUTPUT™ batteries and tools are required to get the job done.

“We’re using Milwaukee® cordless tools. The reason we chose them is we need the flexibility to travel around the site and don’t have to worry about transformers or generators. We can also go off to various locations with the confidence the batteries will last the whole day.”

Ben Lennon, Costain-Skanska

IMTECH

MOUNT PLEASANT

This famous mail centre in London is undergoing extensive refurbishment work with Imtech tasked with the project. They’re using a number of Milwaukee® M18™ cordless products and TRUEVIEW™ lights to maximise safety levels on their site.

“We’re using cordless tools to minimise trips hazards from trailing leads and to minimise NVH (noise, vibrations, and harshness) - that’s why we chose Milwaukee® .”

COSTAIN-SKANSKA

ACTON

Similar to the demolition work at Euston, Costain-Skanska have been taking down warehouses to enable development work at Acton. This is a large, demanding jobsite where the Milwaukee® M18™ HIGH OUTPUT™ product range and battery technology is required.

“99% of the site is cordless, for all our team we are using the battery powered Milwaukee® tools to keep the site user friendly and low emissions.”

DANE ARCHITECTURAL

22 BISHOPSGATE

22 Bishopsgate is a construction project in Central London which will have one of the highest accessible working floors in the Capital once complete. In a multi-floor working environment like this Milwaukee® cordless tools are vital to maximise productivity and site safety.

“We’re using Milwaukee® tools as part of our set up. The site’s 64 stories high and we find it hard to move between the floors quickly. When we do get to a floor we only sometimes have 10 minutes work and we don’t want to spend 10 minutes setting up cables”

Why are they doing it?

THE MILWAUKEE® SOLUTION

Health & Safety

HSE: 'companies must ensure the safety of their employees and anyone affected by their work - this includes taking steps to control slip and trip risks'. Prevention; 'Trip Triangle - walkways, housekeeping and design & maintenance'.

This is by far the biggest benefit seen by construction professionals in pursuing 'the cordless jobsite'.

"The main benefit for me is the health and safety factors of going cordless."
Ian Wilson, Bond Street
"The biggest benefit I see is the safety that it brings, as long as performance is maintained."
Gary Pointer, Paddington
"My priority for my cordless jobsite is to get rid of trailing leads and make the jobsite safer, especially underground."
Brian Williams, Bakerloo Extension
"There are clear benefits from a health and safety point of view, with the reduction of trailing cables on the jobsite. This can also prevent internal damage within the building as they are often pulled around corners and can often damage corners of walls, door frames and reveals."
Tom Hooper Smith, Senior Building Manager, Wilmott Dixon
"Eradicating petrol and hazards is my priority."
Wayne Ramplin, Cross Rail

Cost saving & hassle free

By providing powerful cordless solutions to AC products we are also saving cost, time and hassle on the jobsite.

"Cordless tools do not need PAT testing which saves hassle, cost and also common problems such as cable breaks with corded tools."
Jimmy Greenwood, Building Manager, Wilmott Dixon
"The biggest benefit is safety; cordless tools eliminate trip hazards, saves on carrying heavy weight and man power - therefore saving on cost."
Wayne Ramplin, Cross Rail
"Set up time is often sped up as no transformers are needed and generally life is much easier."
Tom Hooper Smith, Senior Building Manager, Wilmott Dixon
"They like to be at the cutting edge of technology as it leads to more productivity on the jobsite."
Anthony Hoareau, Works Manager
"On an average jobsite we use 60 lights, meaning a minimum of 60 leads. Having Trueview™ at our disposal is a massive benefit, it not only eradicates leads, they are much more powerful meaning that 15 Trueview™ stand lights will do the work of 60 corded lights."
Dave Wilcock, 777 Demolition

Environmental

BREEAM, plays an important role in green building standards. Milwaukee® cordless products can contribute to BREEAM points through energy efficient equipment, dust extraction, inventory, tool management and tracking through ONE-KEY™ and health and well-being through reducing emissions on the jobsite.

"I am definitely on board with the cordless jobsite - it's about time that it happened. It also ticks all of the boxes in the environmental section."
Wayne Ramplin, Cross Rail
"A cordless jobsite means no generators meaning there is no need to hire them, saving cost, it has environmental benefits, not using fuel, and eliminates slip, trip and fall hazards. It also makes work easier on a site as if one tool breaks there is no need to search for the relevant lead."
Dave Wilcock, 777 Demolition

Security

Security is a key concern of site managers, especially those where they employ a lot of sub-contractors and share central charging stations.

"Cordless is easy to steal, especially in an underground station environment."
Brian Williams, Bakerloo Extension

'ONE-KEY™ Integrated Tool Tracking' will provide full visibility of how and where ONE-KEY™ compatible tools are being used across your network of jobs and users.

Education

The Milwaukee® Jobsite Solutions team will go to the jobsite and show workers how to use our products to their best advantage.

"The tradesmen on the site need to try to tools on the jobsite first."
Gary Pointer, Costain/Skanska
"It will take time and trust as they are used to the corded tools that they currently use."
Ian Wilson, Purchasing Manager, Costain Site Bond Street

Milwaukee® Jobsite Solutions will visit your jobsite to understand you work place and applications to tailor a bespoke solution to help you increase productivity and sustainably reduce costs by providing cordless solutions. This also allows people on the jobsite to try our products before they buy them.
